My wife and I had an incredible time taking a cooking class from Sylvia and Francesca. The kitchen was in an amazing setting overlooking Lake Como. This hands-on experience was one of the top highlights from our trip to Italy. Cooking and eating our own creations was so much fun. Sylvia’s passion and love for what she does is so apparent. We can’t what to make pasta and tiramisu for our friends and family at home.
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Christina our guide was very knowledgeable. She gave us a lot of history and spoke somewhat about her childhood traditions growing up in Como. The food stops were great they included a pizza stop at a fabulous bakery. A wine cheese and ham tasting. An olive oil and vinegar tasting and finished with a lovely lunch. Would highly recommend this tour.
We spent a week in Lake Como and saw and did a lot while there, but by far, our best memory was this cooking school. We made homemade pasta, home made ravioli an amazing sauce and tiramisu for dessert. It was a four hour class and then we were provided wine and served our lunch. The owner teaches the class and a Michelin Star chef from their restaurant came by to give us tips and suggestions. We met two other couples and it was truly a fun and informative day!
Elisa was an excellent guide. She was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history and food of Como. We learned so much from her and we got to sample very good cheese, wine, focaccia, nuveola, and treats. We loved seeing and learning about the highlights of Como. We highly recommend this tour.
My wife and I had a wonderful time learning and cooking with mama chef. She is a great instructor. I learned new techniques to make the dishes. We made fresh tagliatelle and two types of ravioli and tiramisu for dessert. We all sat down with wine and feasted on everything we made. Very yummy. Highly recommend taking a class here right on Lake Como. It was a rainy day when we took the class but Lake Como was still beautiful looking out the window from the cooking studio. Grazie mille!
Very interesting and delicious tour of locally made cheeses and ham
This tour was truly one of the highlights of our vacation! We took a ferry from Bellagio to Varenna where our driver met us. We drove along the coast of Lake Como, enjoying the scenery, to Lecco, where we were able to walk around briefly. From there we went to our first stop, Marco d’Oggiono Prosciutti, makers of delicious prosciutto, since the late 1800’s. We were able to visit their prosciutto rooms and learn about the processing. After, we tasted many of the sliced meats they produce, each one delicious, along with a glass of Prosecco! The owner even visits with us. Next we drove about 30 minutes up the mountains to the dairy region where we made our second stop at Carozzi, a boutique dairy and cheese producer. We put on coats, hats and shoe covers (for sanitation purpose) and then were taken into all the areas of cheese production from the start to the packaging. Our guide was very informative. We were surprised how many varieties of cheese they make. After, we went into a lovely private tasting room where our guide eloquently served us 9 delicious cheeses with breads and jams and local wine, followed by risotto, dessert and coffee. We felt like VIP’s. The drive back to Varenna was very picturesque! We highly recommend this tour!
