You Cannot Miss a Trip to Lake Como
We’ve all seen travel magazines and tv shows featuring the beautiful villas and gardens, luxury hotels with silk linens and shimmering turquoise swimming pools. We’ve seen the paparazzi photos of George Clooney and his celebrity friends at his private residence, Villa Oleandra. Wedding magazines show us romantic portraits of brides arriving to their reception in vintage motorboats. Photos of charming little villages with colorful houses pop up on our social media feeds. It all seems too good to be true.
Is Lake Como Really THAT beautiful?
National Geographic Magazine explains, “Thousands and thousands of years ago, glaciers carved the peaks and valley of the Alps. Those same glaciers formed the pre-Alpine lakes of the Lombard region some 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of Milan. Scenic Lake Como, with its deep blue waters, has long been known as the looking glass of Venus."
Traditional foods like Lavarello con Polenta and Risotto al Pesce Persico as well as locally produced olive oils and wines are unique to the Lario (Lake Como) region.
The culture and people make a visit to Lake Como a truly unforgettable experience. We have special traditions and customs that are celebrated year after year. If you get the chance to join in on one of these special events you will surely go home with a story to tell!

Lake Como neighbors wine country, the valley of Valtellina where wine cultivation is abundant. Late August to early September is the wine harvesting festival. Some producers hold picking and stomping parties. In October, in the medieval town of Morbegno, wine cellars are open to the public offering wine and cheese tastings.
